Obama Girl

I have switched candidates. I never thought it would happen. I have been a Clinton supporter since Bill's first election. I couldn't wait for Hillary to run for President. The idea of a female President that I felt I already knew was so exciting. Then reality set in.

The campaign took a toll on my feelings and loyalty for Hillary. It wasn't the Bosnia incident or any one thing. It really has been a combination of everything. The way she has campaigned and her general demeanor during speaking engagements. She just doesn't seem as personable as I had envisioned. She drones on about things in such an old school way. I did not expect that all. I assumed that she would convey the excitement I had felt about her candidacy.

Obama has shown that excitement I was looking for. He has run a clean campaign. When he speaks I actually listen. I believe him when he says he will change things for the better, and I respect him when he says it will be hard work. I may not be voting for our first female President this election, but I will be voting for our first black President. It's time for a change, and I think Obama is a very exciting one!

Bundchen Hole

The controversy over the April cover of Vogue seems misplaced to me. LeBron James is a major athlete with a strong passion for his game, so it's no surprise he looks fierce in a basketball themed picture. It's not like he was in a suit sans basketball. I think the real controversy should be who let that whore Gisele Bundchen so close to another star athlete?! Did you see what she did to that moron Tom Brady? Kicked to the curb goes the baby mama, and down the toilet goes the Super Bowl. Now everyone hates him. Or at least thinks he's a scum bag. Please, I beg of you, get the Bundchen hole away from LeBron before she sucks him in!

I Love Dancing with the Stars

I admit it! I am a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars. In fact, I usually like so many of the contestants that I find it hard to vote. With the first round of eliminations behind us we, as fans, can rest easy for another week. With all that is complicated in the World this show allows for some simple fun. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would wait all week to watch Solid Gold and Dance Fever. If you haven't indulged yet, you simply must try it.

Do We Want Britney To Suceed?

All the morning talk shows were talking about Britney Spears guest spot on How I Met Your Mother. The general consensus is she didn't act crazy on TV, this time. She seems to be able to follow a script and remember her lines. Big deal! Maybe I'm just bitter, but I'm ready to see her fail. It's not that I don't like her, I don't even know her. I can't help but feel like if rich and successful isn't enough for you, then go ahead drive your career into the ground. Maybe a little failure is exactly what she needs. If everyone stopped paying attention to her would she start acting normal? And do we really care? Maybe everyone is hoping she'll fail so we can feel better during our regular lives where the price of gas is fucking everything up.

Rage Report: Stay Right Except to Pass

Is it just me, or does this piss everyone off? I thought everyone learned the same rules of the road. Stay right except to pass seems like an easy one. It's called the passing lane, after all. Or even the fast lane which seems self explanatory. So why is it so many people are willing to sit in the left lane and coast at the minimum speed? Do they do it on purpose? Or is it that people are so busy; sucking down a Starbucks, talking on their phones, yelling at their kids all the while a Disney movie plays on two screens in the background that they have very little idea what's going on outside of their vehicle? In that case wouldn't you think they would enjoy the lower pressure right hand lanes? I just don't understand why we have to work against each other. Are we not part of a society? From now on people, I beg of you, pay attention to the traffic around you and move over if someone else needs to pass. Life's hard enough already, let's try to work together to improve traffic.

Let's Get Dirty

Dirt is back!! With all we missed during the writers strike it is so great to have a favorite show return with new episodes. Courteney Cox is back in a big way this season as Editor Lucy Spiller. With psyzophrenic side kick Don Konkey, played by Ian Hart, this show keeps you on your toes. They never shy away from the outrageous, which is evident in the numerous warnings that air between each commercial break. If you haven't seen Dirt yet you have to give it a chance. It definitely isn't for everyone, but it's as fun as Desperate Housewives was the first season.

Good For Her

So I'm sure you've heard the good news, we're almost done hearing about Heather Mills. Regardless of whether or not she's a gold digging whore, Paul McCartney got what he deserved. He only ended up having to pay her about 3% of his total worth. Sure that added up to just over $50 million, but he's God damn lucky that's all it cost him! Anyone with that much money who is of that age should know better then to marry a woman half his age without a pre-nup! He thought with his little head and he should be thankful it's over. For God's sake! The country went nuts when Britney married K-Fed and almost didn't get a pre-nup. Sorry to say, but when it comes to this issue Britney is smarter then Paul. How sad for him.

Pooping Yogurt?

So it's come to this, has it? Every other commercial is for a yogurt that helps you poop. Every brand has one now. I had no idea that the yogurt eating population was so constipated. Or is it that the general population can't go? Perhaps it's a big scam to convince everyone they need yogurt. Have these people never heard of chasing a bowl of bran flakes with a strong cup of coffee?! Or is this yet another new product that is now necessary due to the medications and procedures people are having? Anti depressants stop you up, so add pooping yogurt to your diet. Botox freezes your tear ducts, so have some Restasis.

The Older I get the More I Love Sports

I don't know what it is, but I am growing more fond of sports. I enjoy an evening of Blazers and chow mein or an afternoon of Sea Hawks and beer. It seems like an inexpensive and fun way to pass the time. Maybe it's because it's been raining for four months, or I feel compelled to have a reason to drink. I'm not sure. All I know is it's fun to cheer on your favorite home team with friends. Maybe I have just grown to enjoy the simple things. Whatever it is, I love it!

Right now I'm enjoying the Portland Trailblazers

Product Placement: The Slingbox

I'm not the most technically savvy person, but I know what I want. I love my iPod and have become pretty good at using it. Back in the day I was the master of the VCR. I could juggle several daily soaps and some evening programs as well. I embraced the VCR's high tech replacement, the DVR (otherwise known as TIVO) . So when I saw the Slingbox on G4's Attack of the Show I was hooked! I continued to hear great things about it as I tried to justify why I needed it so badly. Thankfully Christmas came and I was saved by my in laws who thought it was cool too.

I have to admit, it is just as cool as I hoped it would be. I can watch my recorded shows on my computer any where I can get an Internet connection. Not only that, I can run my DVR remotely to catch a show I forgot before I left town. Now when I go to Vegas I can watch my stories instead of the four channels they give you in the hotel room.

Rage Report: George W Bush

Lately I seem to have a lot of rage! The thing that really brings it out is looking at GW. You know that look he gives when he's giving a speech about something he doesn't understand? It's sort of a tilt to the side head shake. It's as if he can barely keep from rolling his eyes because we, the people, are just so stupid. Shouldn't the president of the US of A be able to at least hide his disdain for us? Is that too much to ask?! I just want to slap that look off his village idiot face! On that note, take some time to enjoy a little reading.

I Want to Like the New Guiding Light

I have been watching Guiding Light for a long time. As you know, people are loyal to their soaps. Recently GL has switched to a new format that is sort of primitive. Held back by the high price of studio space in NY, and the logistics of storing sets in less expensive New Jersey, they decided they had to make a big move.

They moved the whole production to a town in NJ where they are able to film throughout the town for exterior shots and scenes. I say film out of habit. In fact they are using hand held cameras to allow for more movement and the use of actual houses and buildings for sets. The problem is it seems very amateur and the lighting is just plain bad. I am not saying this lightly, mind you. I want nothing more then to think it's great. I really hope it improves or I get used to it. In the mean time, I will just have to enjoy the new sets and the return of Jonathon.

What are people saying?

Guiding Light is the industry pioneer.

I'm Not Ready To Give Up On Hillary

I know everyone is predicting that Hillary can't win at this point, but I just can't let go. It's not that I don't like Obama, because I do. It's just that I really had my heart set on another Clinton presidency. And, I admit, I was hoping for a woman president. Since she hasn't pulled out yet I can't help but think that means there's hope. Some analysts say mathematically it's impossible, yet others say there is a way. It really could come down to the last votes. As a resident of Oregon this would mean our primary elections counted which would be very exciting. I'll have to wait to buy my Obama Girl t-shirt until the last votes are counted.

Is it still possible?

Nerd is the Word

I am so happy for Kathy Griffin! She has found herself a nerd. Kathy Griffin, 47, comedian and realty show star has been dating Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, 57, for over seven months. Ladies, are you paying attention? Nerds are the new it men. Save yourself and your friends the drama and get on board!

I Don't Like the New Guiding Light

I don't like the new Guiding Light. There. I said it.

The problem is...The implausible meeting of peoples now becomes ludicrous. You know what? I never run into my ex-husband just by chance in the woods during the middle of the day. I just don't. When there were sets (crappy and few), at least I could allow for a little dramatic license.

And having to look at Dr. Rick Bauer from underneath flourescent lighting, well...that's just plain torture.

Sorry.

Cashmere Mafia vs Lipstick Jungle

The battle of the network Sex and the City's has begun. Candace Bushnell tries her luck again with Lipstick Jungle. Brooke Shields heads the cast of rich female over achievers. Cashmere Mafia features Lucy Liu and Miranda Otto from The Starter wife and The Lord of the Rings. Both shows feature four type A women with fabulous cloths and apartments. Of course there's the obligatory "mommy" character with all the annoying little problems that entails.

While they are virtually the same show, one is clearly more entertaining then the other. Candace struck gold with the original, but the copy is a boring imitation. Cashmere Mafia may be a watered down version of the original, but at least it's fairly entertaining. The writing is faster and the cast is much stronger. The big question is will Cashmere Mafia return?

Read the rumors.
